Recommended Resources for Aspiring Authors
Writing a Book? Start Here.
If you've ever dreamed of writing a book, welcome to the club.
As an author, business coach, and someone who has supported many clients in bringing their first book into the world, I know how exciting and overwhelming the process can feel. Most aspiring authors begin with a message, a story, or an idea they feel called to share. What often surprises them is everything that comes after the writing.
Questions arise quickly: Should I self-publish or pursue a traditional publisher? How do I find an editor? What support do I need? Should I use A.I.? Who will design a great cover? How do I market my book once it's finished?
All these questions (and more) are valid and important because writing a book is only one part of the journey. Editing, design, publishing, marketing, and audience building all matter. And with so many options available, it's easy to feel uncertain about the next step.
Over the years, I've gathered a handful of trusted resources that I frequently recommend to clients.
I've personally met or worked with each of the professionals listed below and trust their integrity, expertise, and commitment to helping authors succeed. This isn't an exhaustive list, but it's a wonderful place to begin.
Before I share these recommendations, one additional piece of advice: do your due diligence.
Interview writing coaches, editors, formatters, cover designers, and publishing support professionals before making a decision. Ask questions, review examples of their work, understand their process, and, when possible, speak with past clients. The right support can make a tremendous difference in both the quality of your book and your overall experience.
There are many talented professionals in the publishing world, and significant differences in style, expertise, communication, pricing, and processes.
Taking the time to find the right fit can save you time, money, and frustration while helping you create a book you're truly proud of.
Where to Start?
My advice is simple: before worrying about publishing platforms or marketing plans, get clear on your message, your audience, and the transformation you hope your book will provide. I can help with the initial stages through my private coaching programs, and then refer you to the book experts.
Fortunately, there are some excellent teachers, coaches, and resources available to help.

David Hazard
David Hazard was my original writing coach, so I have a special appreciation for his artistry and teaching style. He's creative, experienced, and extremely compassionate.

If you're looking for accountability, encouragement, expert writing suggestions, and guidance from someone who deeply understands the creative journey and is a very talented author, David is a wonderful resource.

Geoff Affleck & AuthorPreneur Publishing
If you're leaning toward self-publishing, Geoff Affleck is another excellent resource whom I worked with when I revised my book, Inspired. He specializes in helping authors publish, launch, and market their books on Amazon.
Through AuthorPreneur Publishing, he provides support with self-publishing, Amazon bestseller campaigns, Amazon Ads, book launches, and ongoing marketing. I especially appreciate Geoff's focus on helping authors reach readers after their books are published. Writing the book is one achievement; learning how to market it effectively is another.
Choosing a Publishing Path
At some point, every author faces an important decision: traditional publishing, hybrid publishing, or self-publishing.
The best publishing path depends on your vision, your audience, your timeline, your desire for creative control, and the role you want your book to play in your life and business.
Each path has advantages, challenges, timelines, and financial considerations. The coaches and resources above can help you better understand your options and determine which approach aligns with your goals.
