Embodying the Archetypal Presence of the Lover
On this page, you'll find a lightly edited replay of the live session, access to the presentation slides with expanded journal prompts, and additional resources from the live workshop.
Summary
In this session, we explored what it truly means to embody the universal archetype of the Lover, and how choosing a consciousness of love transforms the way we relate to ourselves, others, and all of life.
Through guided meditations, reflective journaling, embodied practices, and heartfelt conversation, participants examined the difference between protecting themselves through fear and opening themselves to love through presence, trust, and vulnerability. Together, we explored the question: What does it mean to be a lover?
We discussed how love is cultivated—not simply found—and how creating safety, honoring individuality, and remaining present allows relationships to deepen. Gavin and Joy shared personal stories about their own life journeys, illustrating how love evolves over time and how choosing love can shape our decisions, relationships, and sense of purpose.
We explored the distinction between the unevolved lover, who primarily seeks completion through another person, and the evolved lover, who brings wholeness, presence, and self-rooted love into relationship. The conversation also explored the role of grief, longing, and self-compassion, recognizing grief as a natural expression of a heart that has loved deeply.
Participants experienced several guided practices, including meditation, partner sharing, and an embodied journey through different stages of love—from innocence and past heartbreak to the present moment and future possibility. These experiences invited everyone to reconnect with the loving essence within themselves and recognize that same essence in others.
As we closed the session, everyone was invited to complete the sentence:
"How I will embody the lover this week is..."
Take a few moments to revisit your own response—or write a new one. Let this be your intention for the week ahead. Small, consistent acts of love toward yourself and others are how we evolve naturally in the arena of love.

Set My Sails of Purpose
By Marlyn Taylor
Life and the world around it,
Love and all therein,
Like a vagabond ship on a winded sea
Drifts aimlessly into nothingness.
And then I set my sails of purpose,
The winds of God to fill,
To fill my life with everything,
And then for me to give.
We offer in-person & virtual events throughout the year.
Our offerings are designed to support growth, connection and community.
Some are facilitated by one of us, and others we lead together. We love hosting groups at our home, the Mountain View Sanctuary, in Mt. Shasta, CA. If you are called, we invite you to join one of our in-person retreats or workshops and bask in nature's beauty and shared sacred space.
As facilitators, we create rich learning labs that bring out the joy, wisdom and gifts of all involved.
